Windy Cove Presbyterian Church

Our Pastor

Rob Sherrard has been the pastor of Windy Cove since 1980. He came to us as a graduate of Union Theological Seminary in Virginia. Previously, he had attended Hampden-Sydney College and the University of Virginia Law School before serving as a Navy lawyer. Rob particularly enjoys the teaching and preaching ministry at Windy Cove. He takes an active part in teaching Sunday School and Bible study as well as preaching for worship. Sharon Sherrard has been active in church and community affairs as well as nurturing her two children. She especially enjoys the ministry with students through the annual Youth Retreat, and twice monthly Area Youth Events. The Sherrards have been married since 1971. Together Sharon and Rob enjoy a ministry in marriage and family enrichment. Their children, Katy and Matt, have grown up in Millboro Springs. They have four grandchildren, Jackson, Hilton, Silas and Alyshah. As a family they have found Windy Cove to be a caring and supportive community in which to work and grow and minister the good news of Jesus.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR

The Lord Jesus has been very good to me. As I think back to my childhood, I cannot remember a time when I did not have some sense of God's love for me. That love of God was ministered to me by supportive parents and a kind church family much like the one at Windy Cove. I want others to know the depth of that love which God has for them and for their families. One of my favorite verses from the Bible speaks of that Love, "God commends his love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us." I thank the Lord for such love! I hope that I can help you sense that love which God has for you also.

In responding to God's call to the pastoral ministry, I had no idea that He would bring me and my family to such a lovely place as Bath County and Windy Cove. Throughout these past years, the folks at Windy Cove have been so kind and generous and loving to me and my family. The friendships that we have formed here as we have ministered in Christ's name sustain us greatly. We continue to sense a call from the Lord for ministry in this place  By God's grace the ministry of the Lord at Windy Cove is progressing. Folks are deepening their commitment to Jesus, searching for creative ways to serve him, and listening for his direction for the future. I hope that you will want to join in this exciting work!

May the Lord bless you and keep you today and always.

With enthusiasm,

Rob
